On my desktop, it's a photo of me riding my horse out in the fields, on the laptop it's a photo of my daughter playing with one of our dogs.

So, I have a schoolgirl :) It was their first real schoolday today and she seemed to really enjoy it. Their class is quite big 24 kids (the same as mine was some years ago)and there are 5 girls to 19 boys. OMG - I hear you say :) Poor teacher! The school itself is nothing special, old building, little money, but they're trying their best to make it light and colorful, appealing to the kids and suitable for good work.

My daughter is really happy that her best friend from kindergarten is in the same class, plus she knows some others kids already. In Hungary, school is quite different from kindergarten, so kids have all the right to be excited and even a little nervous, but my girl took it quite easily and seemed to feel comfortable and relaxed in her class and liked the teacher as well. Their class teacher (she will teach all subjects except arts/drawing skills) is middle-aged, nice, but serious and straightforward and the kids get that.

I already survived an hour and a half long parent-teacher meeting, bring on the rest of the schoolyear! :)

I've just realized I haven't posted here in ages.... In case anyone's been missing me, here I am alive and kicking :P

I don't have any big news though.  

On the kid front : Son caught mono somehow but luckily it's of the lightest kind and he shows no symptoms other than huge glands ( for this reason it was hard to diagnose it)

Daughter enjoys the horse pretty much and rides her almost every day :) She is getting pretty good!  I need to video her once!

Rumba - the found dog - ended up staying with us although we found her owners!  It turns out they had lost hope Kyra (her original name) would be found and adopted a new dog, but the dogs wouldn't get along. She is now neutered and officially renamed Rumba :)

I've been awful on the running front lately :(   None of the races I had planned ever happened (well, they did, without me) and training is basically nonexistent....   I hope to find motivation very soon because I'm planning a 100K trail event May 28th.   I do ride the horse, though which definitely has some effect on my legs - or so I imagine :)
